(VIDEO) A U.S. Marine Anti-Tank Missile Man Talks About Why He Decided To Reenlist

March 17, 2017

Military weapons systems have become so specialized and so high-tech that it takes special training (and often more than one person) to operate them safely and effectively. The Anti-Tank Missile man, U.S. Marine military occupational specialty (MOS) 0352, is an example.

The responsibility of the Anti-Tank Missile man is the tactical employment of some very specific weapons. Among them are the TOW (Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided) weapon system and the Javelin weapons system, two widely used anti-tank missiles that are capable of damaging and defeating tanks in battle, an obviously crucial asset in a combat situation.

In addition, the Anti-Tank Missile man is also responsible for anti-armor operations and tactical vehicle operations. They provide medium and heavy anti-armor fire in support of the infantry battalion, light armored reconnaissance (LAR) battalion, tank battalion, and the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF). These Marines are located in the anti-armor platoon within the weapons company of the infantry battalions and LAR battalions, the TOW platoons of the tanks battalions, and the TOW Company of the Tank Battalion.

In this video, Sgt. Cody Lehman, an Anti-Tank Missile man with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, talks about his experience in the Marine Corps and why he decided to reenlist. Check it out:
