Ten-year-old Daniel Gomez and his five-year-old sister Isabella hadn’t seen their parents in nine months. However, at this past weekends baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the military family was finally reunited.
Their father, Chief Warrant Officer Jose Gomez, was deployed in Iraq, and their mom, Capt. Elizabeth Gomez, was deployed in Kuwait.
The two kids, who had been living in Tampa with their grandparents for the time being, were invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Sunday.
After seeing a message from their parents on the big screen, both Isabella and Daniel threw the first pitch towards the catchers waiting near home plate. To their surprise, the catchers were actually their own parents in disguise.
