[UPDATED] – 2:00pm EST: On Wednesday, gunshots were reportedly fired at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.

  • Police say an “erratic driver” trying to make a u-turn struck a Capitol Police cruiser then tried running over officers that were on foot.
  • Officers pursued the driver and fired shots.
  • One female suspect is reportedly in custody.
  • D.C. Police spokeswoman Eva Melecki says the incident appears to be criminal and not related to terrorism.
  • An investigation is underway.
  • A news conference will be held later today at Bartholdi Park.
