On Tuesday, early in the morning hours in the 3900 block of Wabash Street on Detroit’s west side, a 21-year-old violent and armed ex-boyfriend tried to make his way into his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend’s apartment. The man kicked his way into the home while carrying a loaded gun with his car left running in the street.
The ex-boyfriend had a history of stalking the woman who hasn’t lived in the new apartment for very long. There was an incident last week at the apartment when the ex-boyfriend showed up, denting and scratching windows and the garage door, according to neighbors.
“I have seen him come over, breaking up the property, disturbing the neighbors, and beating on her,” a neighbor said. “We had to call the police several times.”
During this particular incident, the victim’s 32-year-old brother shot the man multiple times in the chest, killing him.
“It’s very sad that he had to lose his life to a relationship that he didn’t want to break up,” the neighbor said.
Police say that the ex-boyfriend showed up with full intentions on shooting the victim and making a fast getaway in his running vehicle.
