The United States Army Special Operations Command is the command charged with overseeing the various special operations forces of the United States Army. Headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C., it is the largest component of the United States Special Operations Command.
Its mission is to organize, train, educate, man, equip, fund, administer, mobilize, deploy and sustain Army special operations forces to successfully conduct worldwide special operations. The U.S. Army’s Special Operations Forces units are the Green Berets, the Rangers, and Delta Force.
It’s always entertaining to see video footage from some of America’s best-trained warriors. There are few forces in the world that could even compare to these special operations forces.
They are fearless and mighty, very rare breeds of service members who train to work without error and to storm battlefields that no one else can handle. They are the best of the best.
Each of the special operations task forces does something different, although this is not commonly known.
Unconventional warfare are the assignments given to the Green Berets. They work in groups of 12, conducting the most savage and dangerous stealth raids and ambushes. The Green Berets are trained in direct combat, guerrilla war, sabotage, and subversion, according to Slate.
Army Rangers are a lot like the Green Berets in terms of duties performed. “The Ranger Regiment is the United States’ premier light infantry fighting force, specializing in raids and assault missions deep inside enemy territory,” according to the U.S. Army.
Take a look at the special forces groups in action:
The Army Rangers creed starts with, “Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment,” and ends with “Rangers lead the way!”
The Delta Force is top secret and most of the elite force is hand selected from the Green Berets and Ranger forces to form a very small group. According to Military.com, “Delta Force is primarily a tier-one counter-terrorist unit, specifically directed to kill or capture high value units (HVU) or dismantle terrorist cells.”
It was the Delta Force that took out Osama Bin Laden and demolished the Taliban.
All three groups have expert marksmanship when shooting and eliminating any target. They are unstoppable when jumping from planes, dismantling ISIS operatives, or being dropped from helicopters into the fiercest waters.
They do what no one else can and their primary goal is to complete the assignment they are given.
By land, sea, or air, when they are coming, they are renowned as a force to be reckoned with.
