The 7th Engineer Support Battalion has the mission to provide general engineering support of an expeditionary nature to the I Marine Expeditionary Force under the command of the 1st Marine Logistics Group. This includes providing mobility, countermobility and survivability enhancements, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and general supply support including the handling, storage and distribution of bulk water and fuel. They are also known as Land Stitchers.
Crucial to any war effort, Land Stitchers are tasked with creating roads and bridges that would allow troops and equipment movement where there is none, and eliminate the same possibilities for the enemy.
In this video, Marines with Bridge Company, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, construct a Medium Girder Bridge on Gold Beach at Camp Pendleton, California, as part of their peacetime training. These Marines are definitely resourceful.
