On Thursday, Fox News aired an interview between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and host Sean Hannity in which Israel’s leader said that the United States and Israel are tasked with a “grand mission” when it comes to combating the threat of nuclear attacks by Iran.
“We have a grand mission and it’s not a mission that we invent,” Netanyahu told Hannity. “We didn’t invent these [intercontinental ballistic missiles], we didn’t their nuclear program in which they seek to create nuclear weapons, we don’t invent the terrorists that they sent throughout the middle east and the rest of the world.”
Netanyahu added that Iran’s aggression towards Israel is meant to mask their intentions against the United States, saying that while Iran says Israel is Satan, they also believe the U.S. is the “Great Satan.”
“They want to have [intercontinental ballistic missiles] that can reach your country. That’s what they’re working on right now. Remember, you’re the Great Satan [to them],” he said. “They believe that they’re destined to govern the world. Anybody that doesn’t agree with them, they’ll be able to subjugate or kill, and they’re working on the means to achieve that.”
Netanyahu stated that he feels that the alliance between the United States and Israel is as strong as ever with President Trump in the White House.
“I feel we have now, as the president says, an even stronger alliance,” he said. “A new day, he called it. Maybe a new age.”
Netanyahu also stated that the Iran nuclear deal that was signed under former President Barack Obama was a failure that has only empowered the Islamic Republic.
“Since the signing of the deal,” he said, “Iran has become more aggressive, more deadly, sponsoring more terrorism … with more money, a lot more money.”
“They’ve killed Americans all over the place,” Netanyahu continued. “They’ve sponsored terrorism against Americans all over the place. Now they’re going to build ICBMs that can reach the United States and have multiple warheads to do that? That’s horrible. It’s dangerous for America, dangerous for Israel, dangerous for the Arabs. Everybody now understands it and there’s an American president who understands it and we’re talking about what to do about this common threat.”
