Dallas Homeowner Uses Shotgun To Stop An Aggressive Home InvasionScreen Shot 2017-02-06 at 11.09.44 AM
Early Saturday morning, around 4:30 am, as Terry Morgan was asleep at his home in the Dallas neighborhood of Oak Cliff, he was awoken to noises coming from his front door. Morgan took a look at his home surveillance system monitor and saw two men on his front porch, one was armed with a rifle and the other was trying to get the door open with a crowbar.
Thinking quickly, Morgan grabbed his shotgun and laid down on his living room floor, waiting for the robbers to step inside.
“I just wanted to make sure when he got the door in that I got the first shot out,” Morgan said.
He waited but the door never opened. The suspects moved out of the range of the camera to the side of the house.
Morgan wanted to get a better look but the suspects heard Morgan and began firing shots. Morgan opened his front door and returned fire, forcing the suspects to flee the scene in a nearby car. Morgan says he saw five suspects enter the car. The security video does show a female knocking on Morgan’s door immediately prior to the two suspects appearing.
“I don’t want to shoot anyone’s kid,” Morgan said in an interview. “What are you doing riding at 4:30 in the morning, trying to break into somebody’s house? You are going to get killed. Had you killed me, or I killed you, one of our families would’ve changed. And it would’ve taken a long time for everybody to get back to normal. Over here, we have nothing. You’re taking from people who have nothing. We’ll fight for everything, every last inch. Find something better, educate yourselves, get something you can do better than breaking into people’s homes, because you will be killed.”
