Black Guns Matter Founder: “An Armed Society Is A Polite Society”

February 28, 2017

Maj Toure, founder of Black Guns Matter, says that inner city crimes in places like Chicago can be reduced with more guns. Toure is a Hip Hop artist and activist working to educate people in urban communities on their 2nd amendment rights and responsibilities through firearms training and education. Toure grew up in North Philadelphia watching the destruction caused by gun violence, but he was still attracted to firearms because he saw the self protection they brought.

Recently, Maj Toure was on Fox Business with Varney & Co. and said more guns and more education can curb violence in inner cities. He said people of all races need more education in conflict resolution and de-escalation tactics. He says that people need to understand that a gun is just a tool and it is the person behind the tool that needs a well-rounded respect for the weapon.

Toure told Varney that “an armed society is a polite society” and refers to New Hampshire, which has a low crime rate and just became a constitutional carry state.

Toure says that he gets an amazing reception from people in urban cities and even from some law enforcement because of the way that they are delivering the message about safe gun ownership. They also talk to inner city youths on the topic of when they see a firearm, what to do and what not to do.

“Your philosophy is the exact opposite of what is being done currently, right?” Varney asked.

“Yes, because what they are doing isn’t working,” Toure replied.

Toure says that bad guys and criminals don’t care about the law. People need to be able to defend themselves and the guns also act as a deterrent. Using Chicago as an example, Toure said if the laws in Chicago actually worked, Chicago would be the safest city, and it’s not. They are using an outdated philosophy.

“It’s time to do something different,” says Toure.
