A 20-something-year-old jogger decided to take a run from his Arlington home to LA Fitness last week at about 6 AM, something that was a part of the jogger’s daily routine. However, on this particular day the unsuspecting victim noticed that a pickup was following him near the 6000 block of Poly Webb Road. The truck circled around the jogger and a passenger jumped out of the truck while pointing a gun. The suspect, described by Arlington police as a juvenile, told the jogger to give him all his belongings.
The jogger happened to be carrying his own gun and pulled it out. He was able to fire and strike the perp in the leg before the suspect got back into the truck with his accomplice and fled the scene.
Shortly after the incident, Arlington police found the truck reportedly used in the altercation nearby, which had been reported stolen a few days prior. Later that day, when police pulled over a woman who was driving an SUV, they found the wounded suspect in the passenger seat and he was taken to a hospital.
Police are not releasing the suspect’s name since he is a juvenile and do not yet know the woman’s involvement in the case. Police do not yet know if the suspect also fired his gun or if the jogger was legally carrying a concealed handgun.
