Actress Amy Schumer became a gun control activist after two people were shot and killed during a showing of her movie, Trainwreck, in a Lafayette, Louisiana theater in 2015. Though the individual at the theater was a lawfully gun owner, the movie theater was a “gun free” zone, making it illegal for them to bring the weapon into the building. Following the shooting, Schumer joined forces with her cousin, New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, to push for increased gun control across the nation. While she has been a dedicated anti-gun advocate in her private life, in her latest movie, Snatched, Schumer is featured wielding a gun.
On Tuesday, a second trailer for Snatched was officially released. Schumer and Goldie Hawn play a mother and daughter duo who find themselves the targets of kidnappers while vacationing in South America. The trailer shows Schumer telling a man that he “messed with the wrong bitches” while aiming a gun at him.
Schumer’s anti-gun efforts have included pushing for increased gun control measures, especially background checks, while working with Sen. Schumer. During a January 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards, Schumer pushed for tighter gun laws and also did so in an appearance at the Glamour Awards.
The film, Snatched, will be released by Twentieth Century Fox on Mother’s Day. You can check out the trailer below:
