There are explosions and there are EXPLOSIONS!
Defined as a rapid increase in volume and release of energy in an extreme manner, usually with the generation of high temperatures and the release of gases, explosions are basically separated into two categories.
One is supersonic explosions, like those created by high explosives, are known as detonations and travel via supersonic shock waves.
On the other hand, subsonic explosions, like the ones created by low explosives through a slower burning process, are known as deflagration.
One defining characteristic of explosions are that they are loud and impressive, for the most part. For instance, the explosions created when rockets detonate, are definitely loud, impressive, and potentially devastating.
Defined as any vehicle that obtains thrust from a “rocket engine”, rockets explosions are absolutely terrifying, or incredibly cool, to watch.
