Colloquially referred to as “battle taxis” or “battle buses”, an armoured personnel carrier (APC) is type of armoured fighting vehicle (AFV) designed to transport infantry to the battlefield. They can be distinguished from traditionally infantry fighting vehicles by the weaponry they carry. In other words, they don’t come heavily loaded.
As one would imagine, any vehicle designed to carry infantry troops to the battlefield must be implicitly and explicitly rough and hardened. Essentially, it must be able to take a beating. Nonetheless, with the ever changing battlefield and technological advances, it must be able to do a great array of other things as well, such as being able to go across bodies of water when needed, without being stuck and stopped by nature’s elements.
