An Iraqi man from Kurdistan is so enthusiastic about President-elect Donald Trump becoming the next leader of the United States that he decided to open up a restaurant in his honor. Nadyar Zawiti, the owner of “Trump Fish,” is a supporter of the President-elect because he believes that Trump is “decisive,” “tough,” and will be able to defeat ISIS.
“I love his personality and his policy,” Zawiti said.”His style is close to mine. I like him as a person and as a businessman.”
Zawiti opened Trump Fish in Dahuk province in the Kurdistan Region of the country just one week after Trump won the U.S. Presidential election. It serves only one dish that features grilled carp seasoned with olive oil, lemon, pepper, and spices.
Though some Iraqis aren’t thrilled with a restaurant being named after a politician that has campaigned to ban Muslims from entering his country, Zawiti defends the President-elect and said that he believes the people of the province will begin to back Trump if he makes good on his word about supporting the Kurds in the fight against ISIS.
“I expect, and I believe, that he will help the Kurds,” Zawiti said, also adding that he plans on expanding the restaurant across the Middle East and hopefully to the United States as well.
The cartoon Trump in the logo was taken from an Uproxx article published in 2015 that depicted every NFL team’s logo rebranded to feature Donald Trump.
