Drake Steilen, a 2nd-grader in Iola, Wisconsin, wasn’t expecting much for Christmas. Earlier in December, he had gone on the county’s “Shop With A Cop” community outreach program, but he only ordered things for other people. The magnanimity was not lost on Officer Nate Nelson, who later found out that Drake is a huge Carolina Panthers fan.

He also later found out that Drake had been stricken paralyzed earlier in the year after complications with Lyme disease.

Officer Nelson pulled some strings, got some stuff together, and walked into Drake’s classroom with an armful of Panthers memorabilia, some of it signed by Panthers themselves.

“Certainly I’ll never forget it, seeing him smiling and so happy. He’s been through so much this year,” said Officer Nelson.
