On New Year’s Day, police were called to the Gallery Holiday Motel in Irvington, New Jersey, but not for what you would expect.
A reportedly homeless woman was giving birth in the motel. Officers Michael Myers and Betty Rivera helped the woman through her labor and delivered a healthy baby boy at the motel.
The woman and her child were transported to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Mayor Tony Vauss released a statement praising the officers conduct.
“This is another instance where officers provided superior public safety services to the residents of Irvington,” he told local journalists.
