Officer Keith Bartlett was having a tough month. Two weeks before Christmas, his house and all his possessions were destroyed in a fire. He was in a scramble to somehow provide a good Christmas for his five children, and through his hard work and the help of the community, he pulled it off. The kids had a nice Christmas (under the circumstances) and he felt a small bit of relief.
Realizing that he needed something to put a smile on his face, his fellow officers and country singer Randy Travis got together and hashed out a surprise for Officer Bartlett.
Dispatch sent him out on a fake call on Christmas Day, which gave them time to set up the station for the surprise. When Officer Bartlett returned, a party, Randy Travis, and a brand new guitar were waiting for him.
Music is Officer Bartlett’s passion, and he told his fellow officers about his two guitars that were lost in the fire. Randy Travis heard about this tragedy and wanted to present him with a new one to ease the loss of his beloved instruments.
