The coffee-and-donut cop meal is an old cliche, but in Mesa, Arizona, one donut shop is using the trope as a way to honor their fallen police officers.

Daylight Donuts has created a “Thin Blue Line” donut in conjunction with National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. The donut features a full chocolate covering with a thin strip of blue icing across the middle. The design is meant to resemble the blue line across a black field, a symbol of the police protectively standing in the way of danger.

Daylight Donuts has said that 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) foundation. C.O.P.S. is dedicated to helping the families of fallen officers survive and cope with their loss.
