The war was over. The allies swept the floor with Germany and Japan after a short reign of chaos, war, and pure terror from the Axis powers. World War II was a test of wills and grit between these two very different ideologies. Despite Germany’s invasion of several European and even African areas, Allies forces commanded mostly by U.S. generals advanced and overtook those positions. The move forced the Axis forces to retreat and subsequently succumb to American troops. That much is well known and regarded.
What is little discussed, however, is the German technology used during World War II. Despite their evil intentions and horrific actions, Germany has historically been a country with superb technology and resources. Some would argue that it was these two areas that allowed Germans to advance and conquer so many countries with little opposition until America entered the war.
This educational video compares the differences in performance and usage between American small arms and German small arms during those battles.
