It’s not a secret that China and Russia have formed a formidable strategic, economic, and political alliance in an attempt to rival those of the U.S. and its closest allies. It’s also not a secret that China has been steadily working on building up their navy to stake claims in the China Sea and be able, so their thinking goes, to rival the mighty and powerful U.S. Navy.
What you don’t see everyday, however, are the two militaries executing exercises in public to look tough for the West. Russia and China are two of the most secretive, authoritarian, and controlling countries in the planet. Nothing goes public unless they explicitly want it to. Therefore, exercises like this are broadcasted with one and only one objective in mind: to send a message to the rest of the world.
