“Blade Runner 2049” is the sequel to the classic film produced by Ridley Scott in 1982 simply called: “Blade Runner.”
The original film, “Blade Runner” starred Harrison Ford as Richard Decker, a “blade runner” that has to hunt down replicants (human-like androids).
The futuristic film had mixed reviews from the public and because of that, didn’t do great in the box office, but is now considered to be a cult film and a leading example of the neo-noir genre. It is also considered by critics to be one of the best science-fiction films ever created.
The new film, “Blade Runner 2049,” once again stars Harrison Ford as Richard Decker while Ryan Gosling plays a new blade runner, LAPD officer K.
“Blade Runner 2049” takes place 30 years after the original film. Richard Decker hasn’t been seen during those 30 years and LAPD officer K is on a quest to find Decker after learning of a secret that could turn society towards chaos.
The film is directed by Denis Villenueve and Ridley Scott is the executive producer.
The film is set for release on October 6, 2017.
