On the day after Christmas in 2016, pop singer Taylor Swift surprised a 96-year-old World War II veteran with a visit.
Swift surprised World War II veteran Cyrus Porter at his Missouri home after a local news station did a story about him causing him to go viral.
The family burst into screams and tears as Taylor Swift walked in the door at a family Christmas party the day after Christmas.
The singer showed up and knocked at the door with guitar in hand and played an acoustic rendition of her hit song, “Shake It Off.”
Porter later showed off his World War II memorabilia to the pop star.
Porter told reporters in an interview with KFVS why he’s proud to be a Taylor Swift fan, or a “Swifty.”
“Look what she does, she puts on a show no one else puts on,” he said. “I just liked the way she did stuff.”
Porter said that he has been to several concerts of hers and has driven to St. Louis and Memphis to see her perform.
“Yeah, I just enjoy it, I’m getting old. I’m just enjoying everything,” Porter said.
Swift has not yet commented on the visit.
