Calvin Edwards II, 35, forcefully entered a Baton Rouge apartment over the weekend around 6 p.m. on Saturday. As the man was entering the apartment the resident pushed him back out of the door. On Cezanne Drive, a struggle between the resident and perpetrator broke out on the balcony, resulting in the “would be” robber pulling out a gun. The robber was planning to shoot the resident but the resident fought hard and in the end, the robber shot himself instead.
Edwards retrieved his gun and did fire two shots at the resident’s head but missed on both times. Edwards fled the scene but the gunshot wound to his stomach required hospitalization. Edwards was arrested at the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and charged with attempted home invasion, attempted second-degree murder, and illegal use of a weapon. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he is being held on a $125,000 bond.
