Pence: “The Obama Era Of Weakening Our National Defenses Is Over”

December 08, 2016

On Tuesday, Vice President-elect Mike Pence delivered a Keynote policy speech to the Heritage Foundation at the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC. Vice President-elect Pence shared the priorities planned for the first 100 days after the Trump Administration comes into office, pertaining specifically to national security, economic prosperity, and the hopes for the future of the Supreme Court. During his speech, Pence gained a loud round of applause and cheer when he offered a very simple promise for the future: “the Obama era of weakening our national defenses is over.”

On National Security, Pence stated “for America to be prosperous and strong, America must be safe. It was Ronald Reagan who taught us that peace comes through strength.”

He also said that under the Obama Administration, “we’ve walked away from our commitment to be that arsenal of democracy in the world.”

“I want to promise you,” Pence said to the crowd, “the Obama era of weakening our national defense is over.” The crowd responded with a roaring applause, one of many he received that night.

At the end, Pence implored the crowd to remember the importance of a belief in God saying that “in these divided times where we face unknowable challenges abroad and too much division at home, that if His people will call Him by His name, will humble themselves and pray, He’ll do like he’s always done throughout the long and storied history of this nation: He’ll hear from heaven and He’ll heal this land. This one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.”
