On Monday, President Barack Obama commuted the sentences of scores of firearm offenders among 231 pardons and commutations. This marks the most acts of clemency in a single day by any President in American history.
“Over the last eight years, President Obama has given a second chance to over 1,100 inmates who have paid their debt to society,” says Deputy AG Sally Yates, appointed by the Obama administration.
Obama has stated, “We have to get tough on gun crimes.” Of course, Obama had never had a reputation for being tough on criminals.
One of Obama’s choices for clemency was a crack dealer who killed his two young children in order to prevent them from testifying in the killing of their mother. He is now been indicted by a grand jury.
Breitbart reported Monday that there are close to one million illegal aliens who are convicted criminals that Obama has not deported. A new report estimates that there are up to 820,000 illegal aliens in the U.S. who have escaped deportation under the Obama Administration despite the fact that many of them have been convicted of serious crimes including murder, rape, and drug offenses.
Some “criminal justice reform” advocates are pushing Obama to give clemency to “as many as possible” before January 20th. The President has now commuted the sentences of 1,176 individuals, including 395 life sentences. Let’s see what he does in his last 32 days in office.
