On Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump had a 15 minute meeting with rapper Kanye West at Trump Tower. According to Kanye, the two spoke about “multicultural issues” such as “bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.” At the end of the meeting, President-elect Donald Trump escorted West out of the building and said they had been friends “for a long time.”
West, 39, was cleared by the Secret Service after having been admitted to a mental hospital and placed on psychiatric hold until last week.
‘We’re just friends, just friends. He’s a good man. Going well. Long time – We’ve been friends for a long time,’ Trump said. ‘Life, we discussed life,” Trump said as he escorted West out of Trump Tower.
When asked by a reporter in the lobby if West still had plans to run for President in 2020 he responded, “I just want you to take my picture right now.” A few hours after the meeting, Kanye tweeted: “#2024.”
On Tuesday morning, E! Online reported that sources exclusively told their publication that Kanye West was meeting with the President-elect to figure out a role for the rapper, something they described as an “ambassador of sorts.”
