Update 12/8 9:00 AM EST: A massive manhunt is underway for Minguell Kennedy Lembrick in the Americus, GA area.

Update 12/7 3:25 PM EST: The Georgia Department of Public Safety stated that the Georgia State Patrol, Aviation, and SWAT are on scene.

Update 12/7 1:30 PM EST:  KVUE is reporting that one of the officers has died and one is in critical condition.

Update 12/7 12:50 PM EST:  WGXA is reporting that The Albany Police Department has identified the suspect as 32-year-old Minguell Kennedy Lembrick. According to the report, the officers were looking for Lembrick when they were shot.

As of 12:30 PM EST the Georgia Southwestern State University Twitter account is still informing those on or nearby campus to shelter in place.

12:25 PM EST: Georgia Southwestern State University is on lockdown after two officers were shot nearby the campus located in Americus, GA on Wednesday. CBS46 is reporting that the university sent an emergency alert to all students, faculty, and staff stating that the campus was on lockdown. The alert stated that a shooting happened near the south side of the Griffin Bell Golf Course which is located off campus. According to a tweet sent out by Georgia Southwestern State University, one officer was a University Public Safety Officer and the other injured was a local law enforcement officer. The lockdown remains in place as the suspect is still at large.
