With the fall of the City of Aleppo in Syria, the Syrian Army will have completed an incredible feat that has unnerved many across the Western civilization. A nasty and bloody civil war that intended to overthrow the government of one of the worst dictators in the Middle East will surely come to an end with the likely surrender of the opposition forces of the Free Syrian Army. But this outcome was far from certain a very short time ago.
It wasn’t until the Russian government of Vladimir Putin decided to support the bloody regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, that the balance tilted in the dictator’s favor. Russia was able to exert this influence employing mainly one of their assets, the Russian Air Force. The entrance of such air superiority into the equation achieved something that until recently wasn’t possible. Here we look at military aircraft operations of the Russian Air Force.
