Prior to getting robbed in Paris last month and being held at gunpoint, Kim Kardashian encouraged her sisters to get involved in gun control and fight against gun violence.
In this past Sunday’s “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” episode, which was filmed before the robbery, Kim Kardashian asked two of her sisters, Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian to join her in a lunch with gun violence victims, so that they could “see what they’re all about.”
“Khloé was telling me that you really wanted to get involved in something,” Kim said to Kendall Jenner. “I work with this organization, Everytown, and I set up a lunch with some gun violence victims — some family members that have been affected that I think would really love to meet you guys, because they really do appreciate people like us speaking out.”
“I’ve been meeting with Everytown, an organization that is fighting to change all the gun control laws,” Kim Kardashian said. “There are so many loopholes in the system and I just feel really passionately about how our gun control laws have to change.”
Even though Khloe Kardashian was “down for it”, Kendall Jenner was hesitant about getting involved.
“I want to do this and I want to be a part of it, but it just makes me nervous,” she said. “Like, what people are going to think of it — you don’t know who’s actually going to be for it and who’s not.”
Kim said she understands her hesitance because of the backlash she can receive for speaking out on gun control.
“I feel like in life I’ve gotten a lot of backlash and I’ve gotten a lot of hate, so I’m going to just stick up for what I believe in and what I want,” Kim Kardashian said.
Kendall Jenner was still unconvinced on getting involved.
“It’s kind of difficult because I know that we are public figures, and seeing how controversial it could be to speak out about something you’re passionate about … I just think I don’t want the attention of someone not agreeing with what I’m saying to take away from the fact that there’s actual gun issues that need to be handled,” Jenner said. “It might bring more harm than good.”
On October 3, Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint in her apartment in Paris. The robbers stole $10 million in jewelry and have yet to be found.
