May the fastest crew win! In the military the ability to get up and going and ready to fight is crucial. Some would make the case that this more important for the Air Force than any other branch. Every minute counts, every second counts. A pilot’s ability to get up and ready to go often times could make the difference between winning an aerial dogfight and going down in flames.
That’s why these competitions may look to an outsider like fun games, but they are actual drills to keep the pilots and their crews in top shape. With that purpose in mind, the Royal Jordanian Air Force, Marine Air Group 50, and 13th Fighter Squadron pilots gathered at Misawa Air Base in Japan to compete for the fastest takeoff bragging rights. If it looks like they’re having fun while doing it, maybe because they are.
