Legal CPL Holder Saves Lives: Killed Armed Robber While Being At Gunpoint With Others

October 11, 2016

A legal CPL holder shot and killed an armed robber who was holding him and another person at gunpoint in the parking lot of a restaurant in Tacoma, Washington last Friday night.

The suspect in the armed robbery was identified as 26 year-old Terry Webb. Webb approached two men sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of a burger restaurant called Frisko Freeze around 10:30 pm.

Witnesses told police that Webb was robbing them at gunpoint, but he was not aware that one of the men in the car was armed. The passenger in the car pulled out his gun and shot Webb. Police said that Webb’s friend then drove him to Tacoma General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Peter Bstandig, a Frisko Freeze employee was working at the time when he heard gunshots.

As soon as shots were fired, everyone kind of ducked and ran,” Bstandig told KIRO7.

A neighbor near the scene said that he heard three or four gunshots, then a few more 30 seconds later.

Richard Cays, a customer who, ironically, had just attended a gun show, said that if he were in the same situation, he would have fired at the armed robber as well.

“I have a concealed carry permit. I don’t carry, but if I had been, and that had happened to me, I’m sorry to say I would have done the same thing,” Cays said.

“People do have the right to defend themselves, they do have a right to legally carry firearms, and in this case, this person did,” said Tacoma police officer Loretta Cool.

One woman was arrested for the role that she played in the robbery, but police did not elaborate.

The two victims of the armed robbery sustained no injuries and are not facing any charges. The armed citizen had a valid license to carry a concealed handgun.
