A man from Mexico that has been deported 10 times in the last six years has been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl on a Greyhound bus. Tomas Martinez-Maldonado was convicted on felony charges of illegally entering the U.S. in 2013, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Despite these charges Maldonado was able to reenter the U.S. and commit the sexual assault that took place at a rest stop on Interstate 70 of Kansas’ Geary county in late September, 2016. Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf told Hays Post:
“A Greyhound bus had made a stop in Kansas City and there was an alleged rape that occurred on the bus, however they had no idea where this rape took place,”
Martinez-Maldonado was arrested by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation in Missouri and was turned over to ICE until charges were filed. He was then returned to the Geary County Detention Center where he remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.
