Texas Senator Ted Cruz and former 2016 Republican Presidential Candidate released a very in depth statement following the attacks, identifying the problem specifically as “radical islamic terrorism” and offered solutions to combat future threats.

“We can’t overcome our enemies by pretending they don’t exist, and undermining out first line of defenders.  Only together, clear-eyes, and determined, can we defeat this foe.” Cruz continued.

Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey sent out a briefer, but still in-depth statement pushing the idea that “we cannot allow these recurring terrorist attacks to become the new normal.”Screen Shot 2016-09-19 at 1.23.30 PM

“Terrorism unfortunately remains a serious threat,” the statement reads, “and we need to step up our efforts to protect the American people.”

Other Government officials issued more straight forward, concise condolences to the victims and the families of those hurt by these radical Islamic terrorists on U.S. soil over the weekend.
