Protesters gathered on Charlotte’s streets Thursday night for a third time in a row over a black police officer killing a black man on Tuesday that by some reports wouldn’t put down a gun and by other reports had a book. Some say the police video shows that the man had a gun but that it cannot be released because it is part of an ongoing investigation.
There is a midnight curfew in effect and a state of emergency has been declared. However midnight has come and gone and many are defying the curfew.
While some of the protestors remained peaceful, others took to Interstate 277 and blocked traffic by standing in the highway. Among the crowds are Palestinian flags and anarchy flags. This third night of disruption is more peaceful than the previous two nights of rioting.
