Donald Trump has pulled a fast one on all three major cable news networks by tricking them into broadcasting a series of military endorsements from Medal of Honor recipients. Reporters from several major media outlets appeared in the presidential ballroom of the new Trump International Hotel on Friday morning expecting to listen to presidential nominee Donald Trump address questions about whether or not he believes President Obama was born in the United States. What they got instead was more than a half an hour of military heroes singing their praises for Donald Trump. Several high profile military members took the stage to endorse the Republican nominee including generals, Medal of Honor recipients, and even a gold star wife.
Watch a clip from the conference below:
Major Garrett is one of many news correspondents that were outraged to have been duped by Trump. He is visibly and audibly upset and claims that the entire event was a ploy to advertise the opening of his new hotel. However, anyone that has been following the election knows that many of Trump’s critics point to his lack of military experience as a major weakness. They also know that the media will jump at any chance to cover any Trump related events. It appears that trump used the campaign meeting to show that he has support from the military community to guide him while in the White House while simultaneously using the media’s obsession over the “birther controversy” to put an end to it himself.
Trump ended the campaign event by flat out stating “Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period.” He claims that Hillary Clinton’s campaign started the “birther controversy” in 2008 and that he was there to finish it.
