28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami was shot on Monday by police after allegedly planting bombs in New York City and New Jersey on Sunday. The mother of his child has recently come forward to tell Fox News that he was a deadbeat father that hated America and took regular trips to Afghanistan. The woman claims Rahami is the father of her daughter. She claims that she has not seen him for two years and that he hasn’t made a single child support payment during that time.
Maria, who requested that her full name be withheld for privacy concerns, states that Rahami would regularly go on anti-American rants and praise Afghanistan for its lack of homosexuals. She told Fox that he would often take long trips to Afghanistan, when he returned he would often comment on “How there weren’t homosexuals in Afghanistan” and would often criticize Western culture for not discriminating against LGBT individuals after these trips.
She claims that, despite his anti-American tirades, she never expected to him to carry out a violent attack. She said:
“He seemed standoffish to American culture, but I never thought he would cross the line… I never thought he would do something like this, I think he was brainwashed.”
Maria told reporters that Rahami was a class clown in high school, but even then he would often try to make comparisons between Western culture and Sharia law and other Islamic codes that govern the people of Afghanistan.
She states that her biggest fear all these years was that Rahami would try to kidnap her daughter. She claims that, after one of his trips to Afghanistan several years ago, he returned with a new wife and child.
