This year, the Jack Daniel’s distillery is celebrating their 150th anniversary with a brand new kind of whiskey.
The 100 proof whiskey is a limited and special edition brand new kind of Tennessee whiskey that went onto the market on September 1.
Master Distiller Jack Arrnett worked with the barrel coopers and distillers to create the anniversary whiskey with a newly refined taste that only Jack Daniels can have.
“For this 150 anniversary whiskey, our coopers ‘slow-toasted’ the barrels to bring out the rich flavors and aromas of the wood, creating a contemporary expression of an 1866 barrel char,” Arnett told Business Wire. “We wanted to offer a unique whiskey that we think collectors and consumers alike will enjoy for their own celebrations and is as special as the anniversary that it celebrates.”
The Jack Daniels Distillery was founded in 1866 by Jasper Newton ‘Jack’ Daniel. His name is still on every bottle that is produced by the original distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
The grain bill for the special edition whiskey is the same as Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, but made differently.
When first tasting the Tennessee whiskey, it has a combined taste of butterscotch and toffee but then finishes with the taste of toasted oak.
The retail price for a 1L bottle is $99.99.
