The U.S. Marine Corps V-22 Osprey is a special military aircraft. With its unique ability to convert between fixed-wing and rotary wing, the Osprey fills an operational niche unlike any other military aircraft before or after it. Created by Boeing, the V-22 Osprey is a joint service multi-role combat aircraft utilizing tilt-rotor technology to combine the vertical performance of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft. With its rotors in vertical position, it can take off, land, and hover like a helicopter. Once airborne, it can convert to a turboprop airplane capable of high-speed, high-altitude flight.
This video is a testament of such extraordinary capabilities. In it we can watch a large scale military training exercise where several V-22 Ospreys put into display the global reach capabilities that has earned it the operational niche that it has.
