The Syrian city of Manbij has been an ISIS stronghold since the ISIS (Da’esh) forces captured the city back in 2014. The U.S. backed Syrian Democratic Forces, supported by U.S. coalition airstrikes, have surrounded the ISIS-held city and are moving in to fully take back. The Syrian forces are learning how to work better together in combat.
With continued U.S. airstrikes, ISIS Forces are weakening on a daily basis and it seems like it may fall anytime now. This would be another one city in a series of ISIS strongholds to fall this year, along with the cities of Northern Aleppo, Palmyra, and Fallujah, among others.
