Following the death of an armed 23 year old black man who was shot by a black police officer after fleeing a traffic stop and raising a gun at the officer, violent riots broke out in the streets of Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn said that six businesses were set on fire, cars were set ablaze, rocks and other objects were thrown at police. and rocks have been smashed through the windshields of police cars.
Four police officers were injured in the riots and 17 people, all with criminal records, have been arrested. Gunfire rang out during the riots and an 18 year old male was rushed to a nearby hospital after getting shot. A police armored vehicle aided in his rescue.
During the riots, some of the hundreds of violent protesters that showed up began chanting words such as “black power.”
They also targeted white people, where people can be heard saying, “Hey they beating up every white person.”
“Yeah he white, get his a**” another protester can be heard saying.
