(VIDEO) Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 Stands Tall During Their F-18 Squadron Homecoming

August 16, 2016

The Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 is one of the longest serving and most storied still standing squadrons in the U.S. Marine Corps, and the U.S. armed forces in general. Tracing its beginning to 1925, the “Red Devil” squadron had a fledgling start as VF-3M when it was flying primitive VE-7s, passing through the battles undertaken during World War II and Vietnam, to the present day VMFA-232 flying Phantom F4-Js. Marine Corps’ oldest active fighter squadron, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 is steeped in tradition, continually holding its standards high, and representing wholeheartedly the traditions of the U.S. Marine Corps.

In this video, F-18 pilots return to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, in November of last year after a six-month deployment. The tradition and pride exhibited by officers and enlisted alike is mostly akin to those of sailors with regard to their beloved ships. However, to have the honor to serve in the Red Devil squadron is something most military men would love.
