A severed leg was found by a local floating in the Rio waters, just a few miles away from where Olympic sailing competitions were taking place.
Residents of Governador Island found the leg in Guanabara Bay, just a few miles from where the Finn class was taking place.
Police were called by the residents and found that the leg had been chopped off at the hip with the word “Kauan” tattooed on the calf. The identity of the severed limb is unknown and will most likely will not be found out.
“But they will not be compared with lists of people already reported as missing. It is very common to find body parts in the Guanabara Bay,” a police source told the Daily Mail. “It was probably someone murdered by the drugs gangs, who was dumped in one of the rivers that flow into the bay.”
The waters of Rio raised multiple concerns before the Olympics even began when human feces, human limbs, “super-bacteria” that is resistant to antibiotics, debris and other kinds of trash were found in the waters of Rio close to where Olympic events were occurring.
