A man was taken to Utah County Jail Saturday night after he stabbed a golfer who was playing in the group ahead of him over slow play.
According to Lieutenant Bill Wright with Payson Police, 61-year-old Lee Johnson and his wife were playing golf but felt that the group ahead of them were playing too slowly.
Around 8:20 pm Saturday night, a group of four golfers were playing ahead of Johnson and his wife and told them that the couple could not play through. A fight broke out between the two groups and the club house was called to settle the issue. It was initially taken care of, but when Johnson caught up once again with the group around the ninth hole, he asked once again to play through.
The group refused once more and that is when Johnson pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed one of the four players in the group. One of the other golfers then tackled Johnson to the ground.
The player that got stabbed was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries where they were deemed non life-threatening.
Johnson was arrested and taken to Utah County jail.
