Weighing in at 9,000 pounds this machine is approximately 42% lighter than the than the M198 it’s replacing. Super strong titanium was brought in to improve the Howitzer while reducing weight. The M777 is not only lighter than the M198 but also reduces the number of service members needed to operate it by nearly half! What once took nine men can now be accomplished by only five.
Its increased mobility allows it to be transported by MV-22 Ospreys, CH-47 helicopters or high-powered trucks.
