A WWII veteran tells the story of the time he narrowly escaped death after a Japanese soldier attempted to “blow his head off” with a revolver at point blank range. While that event is a story in itself, it’s only the beginning of this amazing tale. The near death experience led this vet and his fellow soldiers into a Japanese tunnel that would lead to the discovery of a Japanese machine gun that mowed down an entire company the day before, a hand grenade battle with an entire room full of Japanese soldiers, a game of “hot potato” played with a live grenade that would earn him a Silver Star.
