“Lone Survivor” and former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell delivered one of the most powerful and patriotic during the Republican National Convention Monday night. Luttrell teared up when talking about his love for America, its people, and the pride he felt for “being given the honor” of serving the country for 20 years.

Luttrell went off-script during his speech and reinvigorated the entire audience. Luttrell stated that he wasn’t used to reading teleprompters and instead decided to “speak from the heart.” He spoke about his love for Generation X while simultaneously warning them that their war has come. He then placed a call to action; He asked who was ready to take the fight to their enemies overseas.
He went on to emphasize the importance of the group over the individual. He explained that the only way to “Make America Safe Again” is by coming together to unite against the common evil facing our nation today. He stated that “we all matter” in what is being called a subtle swipe at the Black Lives Matter movement.
He told the massive crowd gathered at the quicken loans that “America is the light,” and gave hope to many discouraged Americans by reminding us that, although he has left the military, he will continue to serve our country and restore a feeling of safety and security to the American people.

Luttrell also took the time to show his support for presidential candidate Donald Trump. Luttrell believes that Trump has a competent and complete foreign policy that will address the issues in the Middle East and the threat of Radical Islam. He stated:
“I got to spend time with Mr. Trump and I know he understands what it’s going to take to fix this. The only way we’re going to keep America safe is with an elite military,”
