Four people were arrested at a Wal-Mart in upstate New York over the Fourth of July weekend after a 30 person brawl broke out.
The brawl began after two 17 year-olds took pictures and insulted a 24 year-old woman over her dress. The fight broke out around 7 p.m. last Sunday at a Wal-Mart in Gates, New York, roughly six miles from Rochester.
The incident escalated after the families from both parties got involved. Thirty people joined the fight and shoppers were seen running down aisles wielding baseball bats and throwing trash cans.
A shopper in the store managed to capture video of the fight on their cell phone.
A 52-year-old man was injured after 17-year-old Nykia Brooks, of Chili, allegedly threw a can of food at his head, causing him to bleed. She was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct.
Three others were arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and were released from custody. Police say that more arrests are coming as they continue to look into the video footage as well as surveillance footage.
“It was in total chaos when officers got there,” Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode told WHEC. “It’s just disgusting to see that kind of behavior happening right here.”
“The adults jumped right in with the kids and this is what it turned into,” Chief VanBrederode said.
