A recent Instagram photo has gone viral. The photo is of an off-duty police officer in Sweden tackling and arresting a pickpocket suspect – in a bikini.
At the time, off-duty Swedish police officer, Mikaela Kellner was sunbathing with other police officers when a man stole one of her friend’s cell phone. The man posed as a magazine salesman before snatching the cell phone. Kellner and a fellow police officer chased the man down for about 50 feet and tackled him to retrieve the phone.
The event took place at Rålambshov park in Stockholm
They arrested the man and found the phone on him.
“I just acted on instinct and didn’t think about it so much until after we had pinned him down” Kellner told The Local. “When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realized that it probably looked pretty funny. But I would have stepped in no matter my outfit.”
“I told my friends to keep an eye on their things. But as soon as he left one of my friends said ‘where did my mobile phone go?'” Kellner told The Local.
According to Kellner’s Instagram, she has competed in the Swedish version of Ninja Warrior and is a power lifter as well as a CrossFit athlete.
Kellner told Aftonbladet.se that she would have intervened even if she were naked.
“There was nothing stopping me, but it was a little comical that I grabbed him in a bikini.”
