A woman was killed over the weekend at a drive-through wildlife park after attempting to save her daughter who was being mauled by a tiger, government officials said.
After getting into an argument with her husband, a woman got out of her and walked around to the opposite side of the car where she got attacked and mauled by a tiger coming up from behind her at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife World on Saturday, reported the Legal Evening News in Beijing reported.
In the section of the park where she was mauled, people are allowed to drive their vehicle through the Siberian tiger enclosure. However, the visitors in the park are not supposed to exit their vehicle.
Several signs at the park read, “Cherish your life. Never get out of your car.”
As the woman was being attacked, the woman’s mother and husband got out of the car to chase the tiger and the woman down to rescue her. The mother was then attacked by another tiger in the enclosure and killed. The husband and the baby that was left inside the vehicle were not injured in the attack. The woman who was initially attacked by the tiger was badly injured and was treated for her injuries. Her condition is unknown.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the park has temporarily been closed following the attack.
