[UPDATE July 29, 2016 3:02pm EST] A SWAT team has surrounded a local home where they believe one of the suspects is hiding. A hispanic man was arrested at the scene of the crime but was rushed to the hospital due to a gunshot would to the torso. Police believe this hispanic man was the shooter. Authorities believe the shooting is the result of gang violence and is not related to the police ambushes that have been taking place in cities such as Dallas and Baton Rouge. The slain officer has been identified as Jonathan DeGuzman, a married father of two young children.

Around 2:00AM EST Friday morning two San Diego police officers were shot during a traffic stop. Both were rushed to the hospital where one officer died due to multiple gunshot wounds.
UPDATE: The second officer is out of surgery and is expected to survive.
One person is in custody and another is being pursued. Police quickly descended onto the area along with a police helicopter.
This shooting comes at a time when police officers are being targeted by the Black Lives Matter movement which a small but growing number of people are calling a domestic terrorist group for their cold-blooded murdering of police. It is not clear if this shooting was motivated by Black Lives Matter but this does seem to follow the pattern.
Both officers were part of the San Diego Police Department’s ‘gang suppression unit.’
No more information has been released at this time.
